Coreas Hazells Inc. is an amalgamation of companies, one of which was established in 1845. Coreas Hazells is a member company of Goddard Enterprises Ltd (GEL). – a regional conglomerate, headquartered in Barbados and listed on the Barbados Stock Exchange. It presently employs just over 180 persons stationed at several locations across St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Coreas Hazells operates multiple divisions which include Building Supplies, Pharmacy, Insurance, Automotive and Shipping & Logistics under Corea & Co (1988) Ltd.
Corea & Co (1988) Ltd is divided into our Cruise Division and Cargo Division.
Our Cruise Division represents many cruise lines including Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises, AIDA, Silversea Cruises, Cunard/Seabourn Line, Fred Olsen Cruises, Holland America, Costa and MSC among others. The company currently carries a US$2M Tour Liability Insurance.
The Cargo Division is agent for GEEST Line, King Ocean Services, Island Bargains & Xpress Freight Services.
Goddard Enterprises Limited (GEL) acquired its second overseas interest when it purchased United Traders Limited, a privately owned company which traded in hardware, food, motor vehicles and a department store.
GEL purchased another privately owned company called Corea and Co Ltd., with similar trading practices to the above but in addition had Shipping and Insurance department. Later, in 1968, another private company was purchased – Gerry Palmer Limited.
H.D. Dear Ltd – a company that held lands at Cane Hall and several agencies including B.A.T (British American Tobacco) – was also purchased. In that same year, a holding company – Goddard Enterprises (St. Vincent) Ltd – was formed to own the St. Vincent interests.
All trading activities of the other three companies were taken over by United Traders Ltd which later changed its name to Corea’s Trading Limited.
Goddard Enterprises (St. Vincent) Limited acquired Hazells Limited – the oldest registered company in SVG (established in 1845). This company comprised of a Hardware and Building Supplies Department, a Wholesale Food and Liquor Department, along with Automotive, Shipping and Insurance Departments.
Goddard acquired 53.59% of the shares in W.B. Hutchinson & Co (St. Vincent) Limited and acquired all remaining shares in 1990. WBH held the ACE Hardware franchise and a Food Distribution Department.
Corea & Co (1988) Limited was formed to manage the Shipping Agencies, as a member of the GEL Group, Corea & Co (1988) Ltd is well established and accepted as being the most respected shipping agency and shore excursion operator in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, serving 85% of the cruise vessels and 70% of cargo vessels that visit our shores.
GEL Group separates the Food and Beverage Division from its other holdings and creates two separate local companies, with Coreas Hazells Inc. managing the Building Supplies, Automotive, Pharmacy, Insurance and Shipping operations and Coreas Distribution Ltd managing the Food & Beverage operation.
